Meri Kirihimete Whānau. That mean Merry Christmas Evreybody in Te Reo Moari. In Te Reo MAori this week, We have been learning how to say Merry Christmas and learn different things to say in a Christmas Card, In Te reo Maori.

House of Bricks Reflection

My favourite Lego activity was the racing car activity because it was great modifying it. I found out that you need to make your vehicle longer to make it faster. With this tactic, Me and my partner Christian came 5th.

My least favourite Lego activity was the artwork because it was impossible to get the lego off the platform.

The activity that tested my perseverance the most was Add a Brick because people kepth on ruining my build.

The most challenging activity was Add a Brick because I did’nt know what to put on other peoples' builds.

I enjoyed working collaboratively with others because I learnt that sometimes Team-Work is the key to success, And sometimes show a little grit.

Did you know that the planet we live on (Earth) is a Giant Magnet?. I know right!, Sounds Crazy. But after reading a comic called, The Great Earth Magnet, I learnt that the earth is one big magnet, We also learnt about magnets from the book.

There is a South Pole and North Pole on the Magnets. If you connect a North Pole and South Pole together, It will stick. If you put a South Pole and a South Pole, It will not connect.

Our Create Task was to make a Poster and put 2 interesting facts from the book and write why its important.

Lets get ready to rumble! as we see the skills of the Fixed Mindset and Growth Mindset. In Week 7, We have been learning about a Growth Mindset. 

GROWTH MINDSET

The Growth Mindset gives you Advice and Positive thoughts. For example, Your Growth Mindset could say,"Mistakes are Valuable". It means that if you make mistakes, its okay you can try it again.

FIXED MINDSET

A Fixed Mindset gives you Bad Advice and No Positive Thoughts. Like for example,"I give up". That is not good, Its stopping you to do things.

Unite against Littering

 Kia Ora and Welcome to my Blog. This week in writing we have been looking at different types of text to put in a Persuasive Writing.

We were lucky enough to choose our argument for the Persuasive Writing. We had 15 different options. The one that stood out to me the most was to Stop Littering.

SENTENCE STRUCTURES

The sentences we have been looking at for our Persuasive Writing was

• Compound Sentence
• Rhetorical Question
• Complex Sentence
• Simple Sentence.

GOALS

This week we had Multiple Goals for Writing.

Here our are Goals.

Vary sentence beginnings, structures and length. Write simple and compound sentences (by using conjunctions). Use some complex sentences. Use simple and compound sentences with a variety of beginnings, lengths and structures. Use some complex sentences to create pace, flow and interest. Use linking words and phrases to link some paragraphs.

Persuasive Writing - Why we shouldn't be allowed to have Sweets at school.

 Sweets might be yum, It might be what we all want, But sometimes, Bad things can happen.

If you eat too much candy, you will end up extremely fat and then you won't be able to do certain things just like the average human.

According to studies, It can decrease academic performance a lot, it can cause hyperactivity, and it can do bad things to them. Instead, they should sell foods that are good for the brain, like fruits and vegetables.

Can you imagine yourself looking that fat.

Another reason why we shouldn't is because When you eat excess sugar, the extra insulin in your bloodstream can affect your arteries all over your body. It causes their walls to get inflamed, grow thicker than normal and more stiff, this stresses your heart and damages it over time. This can lead to heart disease, like heart failure, heart attacks, and strokes.

Trust me, No one would want to have heart failures, strokes and heart attacks. You could possibly die from that.

We need to stop littering on this earth because A study from Portland State University found that patients enrolled in mental health disorder treatment programs perceived litter located around their housing facility to be a factor in hindering the development of positive health outcomes associated with their current mental health recovery.

Litter has the potential to cause harm to human health, safety, welfare, as well as the environment. So we should stop littering because this is bad, it can affect us.

We watched a Award-Winning video about a Little Girl donating her toys to a Orphanage down town, It was raining so she bought her Shiny Bright Limited-Edition Yellow Umbrella. She bought it inside with her mother bringing the toys inside. She placed her Umbrella at the Umbrella stand so she could meet the orphans. Well not all, There was a boy named Boris and he took the Yellow Umbrella because it reminded him of his dad before he left Boris. When the girl saw Boris with it, She got angry and snatched it away from him, Then the girl realised why he wanted the umbrella so she gave it to Boris.

Olympics - Reading

In Reading, We have been learning about the Olympics. This year, The Olympics take place in Tokyo Japan. On the task board we had to  make a slide about one Olympic Paticitant representing New Zealand. I did Lisa Carrington. Here are some facts about here.

Lisa Carrington is a  New Zealand rower Who is currently competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She won three consecutive gold medals in the Women's K-1 200 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as gold in the same event at the 2011 Canoe Sprint World Championships. In the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Lisa Carrington has won 2 Gold medals. She is also representing New Zealand. Lisa Carringtons Nickname is, The Goat in a Boat. Lisa started to represent New Zealand in the London 2012 Games.
